The purpose of the Highland Echo is to act as a source of information for students, faculty and staff at Maryville College. This information shall be accurate and in conjunction with the Maryville College Covenant.
Not only is the Highland Echo a useful publication for the campus, but it also functions as a community newspaper. There are references to community events and activities which make the residents and community leaders an outlet for the material in the school paper.
The Highland Echo also serves as a historical document which will be carried on into the next millennium. Years from now, the Echo will be a source of information about MC life.
Lastly, the Highland Echo is an important tool for information within the school and in the community, as well as now and in the future. It is important that the newspaper staff represent the college in a responsible and respectful manner.
