Alayne Bowman named new Director of Financial Aid

Recently, Alayne Bowman was named the new director of financial aid. Bowman has worked for Maryville College for the past 12 years, and on Dec. 1 she was hired into her new position.

Previously, Bowman has worked as an admissions counselor, senior assistant director of admissions and transfer coordinator, assistant director of financial aid; and associate director of financial aid. Most recently she served as the interim director of financial aid.

Bowman is enthusiastic about her new job and looks forward to facing the challenges head on. Her job is to make sure that new and returning students are taken care of financially, following different federal guidelines and maintaining a direct relationship with the business office and the registrars’ office.

Upon taking the job, she was faced with dealing with some of the financial challenges of last year, as well as making sure that the department keeps the student population happy with their finances.  .

One of the challenges Bowman faces is finding a way to maintain the financial aid budget, but she is confident that her department is fully capable to do that effectively.

“I think the students are great and the faculty and staff are great,” said Bowman. “I am glad to be a part of it. There will be challenges along the way, but it is nothing that we can’t overcome.”
