Maryville at a glance

To some, Maryville, TN might be synonymous with the word docile. It almost seems as if the city is living at a snail’s pace. Maryville can at first some increasingly boring, but it is surprisingly chockfull of things to do. As native of Maryville who has lived here for 20 years, I think I have some pretty neat recommendations of places to visit while you are here.

Bruster’s Real Ice Cream is the local ice cream shop in town. They offer a wide range of flavors and cones to try.

The recently renovated AMC Foothills 12 Theater offers $5 Ticket Tuesdays for all AMC Stubs members (free to sign up).

The Foothills Parkway is the shining jewel of the Maryville, TN area. The views up here are breathtaking. I recommend coming up during the fall when the leaves have changed color, or at night when the city lights are visible from up here.

The Greenbelt Park is beautiful and extremely peaceful. Enjoy a nice walk in the company of the many kinds of ducks that spend their time here.

Recently opened in the remains of Maryville’s own hookah bar, The Rabbit Hole, Southland Books offers up used books of all kinds, used vinyl, incense, stickers and magnets. In the other half of the space occupied by Southland Books is a café.

On the Greenbelt Paths, there is Greenbelt Mile Marker ¾. It runs a long a creek so it’s perfect for small walks and picnics. The mural is changed every once in a while so make sure to remember to stop by periodically to see what they’ve created.
