On Nov. 15 at 3:00 p.m., the Maryville College Community Band will perform their fall concert in the Ronald and Lynda Nutt Theater of the Clayton Center for the Arts. The Community Band has been working towards this performance since Sept. 2.

The band is under the direction of Dr. Eric Simpson who just began his career this year as lecturer in music education and director of bands at Maryville College. The ensemble consists of brass, wind, and percussive instruments.

Within the group, MC students as well as several alumni, former faculty and staff, former band directors, and many accomplished musicians work together to perform around seven pieces.

Although there are several new members of the Community Band, quite a few of the members have been a part of the band since it was organized . This semester’s performance is centered on a hymnal theme.

Through the chosen pieces, the audience will hear several distinct songs of praise such as “Onward Christian Soldiers”, “Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow” and “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” among others.
