Women’s Soccer performs on and off the field
Maryville College women’s soccer earned the NSCAA college team academic award for the eighteenth consecutive season. The Lady Scots finished with a cumulative 3.29 GPA.
“I am proud of each of our players’ dedication and desire to be the best everyday in everything they set out to accomplish. For our program to do this for the past 18 seasons speaks of the quality young women that have left their legacy within our program both on and off the field,” said head coach Pepe Fernandez.
They Lady Scots continue with this mentality onto the field. MC defeated Methodist 1-0 on Sunday, Sept. 20. Then the Scots traveled on to Virginia, defeating Ferrum 2-0.
On Monday, Sept. 28 the ladies defeated conference opponent William Peace. The Scots managed 22 shots on goal against Peace’s defense. Allyson Hale led all scorers with 2 goals and now leads the Scots in scoring this season.
On Wednesday, Sept. 30, Hale recorded a hat trick in their 5-1 home victory against La Grange. Afterwards the Scots received their rings as the reigning USA South tournament champions.
“I’m really excited about next season, and what it holds for us in the future,” said forward Sierra Siegel.
Siegel’s excitement continues on with the rest of the team as the preseason favorite Scots currently hold a record of 7-3 with 4-1 conference record.
On Friday, Oct. 2 the Scots lost to Sewanee 1-0.
