MC’s dance ensemble performs annual showcase
On April 19 and 20, the MC dance ensemble presented their annual showcase. The event took place in the Ronald and Lynda Nutt Theatre in the Clayton Center for the Arts. This year’s theme was, “Are We Human Or Are We Dancer?”
“I really love that we make up our own dances,” said Tori Edmiston, co-captain of the dance ensemble. “Our ensemble and recitals are student run.”
Various members of the team choreographed, taught and performed their own dances, which, according to Edmiston, allowed the audience to see their personality and style through the dance.
Joining the dance ensemble allows people to meet fellow dancers who share the same passion, according to Courtney Philips, the other co-captain.
“We get to dance, which we love to do, and make friends,” Phillips said. “By sharing a common bond, dancers can learn from each other and grow.”
Phillips said that she hopes each member will “cherish the experience,” as she has for the past four years on the team.
At the end of Saturday’s performance, the seniors were honored for their participation with the dance ensemble. Phillips, was given eight roses to represent each semester she has been a part of the ensemble.
“I loved that I was sharing my last show with some of my best friends,” Phillips said. “I will always cherish the memories I have made being a part of the team.”
The dance ensemble will be performing again fall and spring semester.
