Campus Omicron Delta Kappa chapter celebrates, inducts new members
On Sun., Nov. 13, the Maryville College Chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa inducted 32 new members, including one faculty member, with a ceremony held at 1:30 p.m. in the Campus Center for Ministry. Omicron Delta Kappa is a national leadership honors society. National society regulations dictate that only students who are in the top 35 percent of their class are eligible to be considered for members.
Along with achieving academic excellence, prospective members must also exhibit exceptional devotion to leadership in at least one out of five primary areas: athletics; campus or community service, social or religious activities, and campus government; journalism, speech or mass media; scholarship and creative and performing arts.
“We also look to induct a diverse and highly involved group, preferring members who touch two or more of these areas with their experiences, and doing our best to find worthy candidates from all five categories,” said Devon Reynolds, president of ODK. Leadership levels (being president versus club photographer), and the number of leadership positions one has held, factors into decisions as well”
The 32 members inducted this year into ODK are: Robert Adams, Allyson Angel, Meagan Attanasio, Tabitha Baum, Jennifer Bivens, Caitlin Campbell, Brandon Clarke, Abby Davis, Richard Douglas, Katie Fair, Hannah Fry, Katherine Grace, Delena Gray, Emily Julian, Callie Keasler, Elisabeth Klouda, Carrington Lemons, Rachel Massey, Mary Moates, Lindsey Hitchcock, Garrett Painter, Susan Pogue, Amber Roberts, Kathrine Schrock, Keli Shipley, Leah Smith, Katie Spears, Samuel Turpen, David White, Arielle Nivens, Jessica Lyle and John Robertson.
