Design students create posters for Earth Week
Students enrolled the Design I course, taught by MC Associate Professor of Art Adrienne Schwarte, designed and printed posters that advertised events happening on campus during Earth Week.
Each student chose which event their posters focused on. Some students highlighted the ice cream social while others focused on all of the events. The posters were on display in the second-floor gallery of the Clayton Center for the Arts’ Art and Recital Hall from April 25-28. Students used Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign programs to complete their posters and draw attention to the importance of Earth Week.
“Earth Week at MC is a series of events designed to generate awareness about environmental problems and encourage the community to learn about and be a part of the solutions, celebrate our planet and engage in physical health and wellness outdoors,” said Schwarte, who is also co-coordinator of Earth Week.
Each poster also included a QR code, which can be scanned using a smartphone. By scanning the QR code, students are able to view a website discussing MC’s sustainability journey.
“Even though Earth Week at MC happens just once a year, our community is involved daily in initiatives that help sustain our campus, and Earth Week at MC is a time to see some of those initiatives and generate more participation in them,” Schwarte said.
