“Fantastic Beasts” invites viewers back to JK Rowling’s beloved world
Calling all Harry Potter fans, witches and wizards alike, because “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is taking the world by storm. On Friday Nov. 18, Giddy fans sat in their seats anxiously awaiting the Warner Brother’s logo and the music that would welcome us back to the world that we all fell in love with when “Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone” was released in 2001.
This new movie, written by JK Rowling, invites us back into the Wizarding world with which we all were captivated by during Harry Potter’s time at Hogwarts. But instead of taking place in England during Harry’s lifetime, “Fantastic Beasts” takes place in America in the 1920’s.
This new series follows Newt Scamander as he enters New York with his briefcase of creatures. Almost upon entrance to the city, one of his creatures decides to take on the new town and unintentionally wreaks havoc; that is only the beginning for Newt. All the while, there is a terrible dark force taking the city by storm that the No-Majs are terrified of. There is trouble coming, and Newt is here to save the day.
If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you know that the movies have a certain something about them that sets them apart from all others. David Yates creates “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” in a way that will make you feel like you truly are back in the same universe, which, for die-hard fans, will delight you to no end.
With each scene that passes, the graphics and special effects are appropriate and align with the visual effects of Harry Potter to create the atmosphere that JK Rowling wrote about all those years ago. There is no doubt that this new series will take off.
In addition to this new era of magic, there are also subtle hints and scenes that link Harry Potter’s world to this new age of magic. Remember the Deathly Hallows, Dumbledore, and Grindelwald? They all have some sort of sly appearance in the series that will truly make you feel like you have returned to the wizarding world.
This movie is taking the world by storm, and a new era of wizards has been born. The movie is so good that you may even go see it for a second time.
