Songs get MC students through the semester
It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. This semester at Maryville College is almost at an end and what a semester it was. What better way to sum up each student’s experience of this semester than with a song? We asked Maryville College students what song they would choose to describe this school semester and put all the answers together to create the Maryville College 2019 fall semester soundtrack.
- “Bring Me to Life” by Evanescence: “The semester started out grate but now I’m like bring me back to life,” said Kimberly Donavan, sophomore.
- “Soulmate” by Lizzo: “It is female impowering and makes me feel like a strong independent woman,” said Savannah Stewart, sophomore.
- “Same Old Mistakes” by Rihanna: “I keep making the same mistakes over and over,” said Grace Matthews, junior.
- “Nobody” by Casting Crowns: “Even though I may be busy with school and not have as much free time as I’d like, I don’t stop trying to be a disciple throughout my day,” said Jack King, freshman.
- “Unpredictable” by 5 Seconds of Summer: “I don’t think that I fully understood college life, until I got here,” said Dani MacDonald, freshman.
- “Killing Me” by Jacob Whitesides: “It’s been a really hard semester,” said Sierra Whitesides, freshman.
- “L.A. Woman” by The Doors: “It’s a fast song, and this semester has been very busy,” said Adam Brown, junior.
- “Helplessly Hoping” by Crosby Stills and Nash: “I’m helplessly hoping that the semester will get better,” said Hudson Perrine, junior.
- “Lust for Life” by Lana Del Rey: “I had a friend pass away this semester, and I really lust for his life,” said Melanie Kowalewski, freshman.
- “All I Want”by Joey Michel: “I really love the entire album; it gets me through the semester,” said Eliza Komisar, junior.
