Hello from your local music lover. My job as a columnist is to inform you of all the latest and greatest in music. I have attended many local concerts and venues in recent years so I feel as if I have a wide variety of knowledge and experience that will allow me to form an educated opinion about the quality of local shows and venues.

Despite the lack of venues in our local area, there are a few that stand out amongst the rest. One of my favorite local spots that is not only popular with the younger generation but also attracts a wide variety of ages is the Vienna Coffee House.

It is located in downtown Maryville and sits right on top of the Green Belt, a local park that stretches around the surrounding area. The local shop stands on the corner of College Street and East Church Avenue right next to the historic library.

From the outside, you will find many local musicians with instruments in hand playing for any one who passes by and lends an ear. It is a two-story building that provides a home for its many musical occupants and local coffee lovers. Its outdoor patio provides a beautiful place to study on any given day.

In my opinion, what makes this venue so great is the people who work there. Its welcoming employees, many of whom are talented musicians themselves, provide a friendly atmosphere that caters to all of its guest.

On Thursdays the quaint coffee shop comes alive and is filled with music as many of the local musicians pour in to share their latest works and talents; however, anyone is invited on stage to perform.  The variety of talent and genre is astounding and is always a pleasure to watch.

Not only is the entertainment exceptional, but the coffee and other refreshments are unlike anything else around. The variety of coffee varies from light to dark roast and  every mug is rich with flavor.  Their talented staff can create any type of drink you can think of along with a variety of flavors, so your options are unlimited.

Overall, Vienna is a warm and welcoming venue that I would recommend to the highest extent. Its atmosphere is inviting and always filled with music and talent. Anytime you find yourself at Vienna you can always be reassured that you will have the best experience possible.
