Associate Dean of Students Daniel Rosellinamed Title IX coordinator after filling in

After serving as interim coordinator, Daniel Roselli (‘14) has officially taken on the position of Title IX coordinator at Maryville College.

In addition to his work in Title IX, Roselli also serves as the associate dean of students and the director of residence life. These are roles he continues to balance alongside his new responsibilities as coordinator.

Roselli said his decision to accept the position prospered from his background in student management and his commitment to supporting students.

“I see myself holding the position of Title IX coordinator during my entire time here at Maryville,” Roselli said. “I have really become engaged in learning more about the position and with my background in student conduct, it was a role that I wanted to learn while using [the] transferrable skills I have built up over my career.”

For Roselli, Title IX binds directly to his passion for higher education administration. “I took the role of Title IX for the same reason I initially wanted to become a higher education administrator; I want to help people,” Roselli said.

“Title IX is a way that I can directly assist students and continue to maintain a safe campus [where] students can feel happy and cared for while attending the college. I have really found a calling in assisting students in crisis or even just providing students more accessible avenues to be successful here,” Roselli said.

Since stepping into the role more permanently, Roselli has strived to expand policies and streamline procedures to make the Title IX process more straightforward and approachable.

“I have worked closely with campus partners and outside consultants to create a more expansive Title IX policy that is more fleshed out than before and hopefully takes a lot of [the] guess work out of the process,” Roselli said.

Nationally, Title IX has been complicated by shifting regulations, legal challenges and the current administration. However, Roselli said that these changes have had very little direct effect on Maryville College.

Roselli views his role as Title IX coordinator as a way to foster a supportive environment for all Scots. “My goal is to ensure we are keeping our campus safe and that our process is fair to all students,” he said. “I want students to feel comfortable coming forward, knowing that they will be treated with respect and care.”

Looking ahead, Roselli plans to continue nourishing the office by establishing a reliable and accessible presence for students.

While the federal policies may continue to shift, Roselli’s focus remains on the needs of Maryville College students. “Title IX is here to protect students. It’s my responsibility to make sure the process is one they can rely on.”

With his full-time commitment, the Title IX office is entering a new chapter. Roselli hopes that his work will not only provide clear policies but also reinforce a culture of security, honesty, and care on campus.
