Interviews with MC emotional support animals; the graduating cats of 2026
To celebrate the upcoming graduation season, two cats who also happen to be Maryville College seniors were asked some burning questions. Prim Cooper (‘26), is from Knoxville. When asked what she would major in, if given the chance, Cooper said she would major in design with a minor in communications.
“I want to be a fashion blogger,” Prim said.
Cooper lives in Gibson Hall and spends her free time looking outside the window, begging for water at the sink, and sleeping during the day.
“So I can run around and wake up my mom, Megan Cooper (‘26), all night!” said Prim.

Her favorite food is strawberry ice cream, and she says she gets a spoonful every year on her birthday.
“I am excited to graduate and begin my search for my full time career in hissing at dogs walking past my window,” Prim said. “My favorite part of being a Scot is that everyone adores me!”

Nala Peddicord (‘26) is from the Blount County Animal Center, though her mom Finch Peddicord (‘26) is from Texas.
When asked what she would major in, Nala said: “Environmental Science, so I can study the effects plastic consumption has on cats, because I love to eat plastic when my mom isn’t looking and they say it’s bad for me”.
Nala also lives in Gibson Hall.
“I usually stare at my automatic feeder longingly, meow at the top of my lungs, knock peoples phones out of their hands, and occasionally hide behind the couch,” Nala said, explaining her daily routine.

Nala’s favorite food is Doritos Locos Taco Supreme from Taco Bell.
“Once my mom was eating one and I started biting it while it was in her hand. It was so delicious considering she [makes] me eat weightloss kibble.”
Peddicord says she is so excited to get to walk the stage and receive her diploma – at least, she will do so vicariously through her owner.
“My favorite part of being a Scot is that I get to hang out with new people all of the time! They always pet me and pick me up and sometimes I can even guilt them into giving me cheese” Nala said.
