Philosophy Club kicks off with a fall social

One of Maryville College’s newest groups, the Philosophy Club, met for a fall-themed party on Oct. 11, hosted by Dr. Andrew Irvine, associate professor of philosophy and religion. Though it featured what one might expect at a fall party — pumpkin painting, pizza and marshmallows roasted over a fire — the conversations were much more unorthodox. Talk about life goals and favorite TV shows seamlessly intermingle into conversations about death or the reasoning behind dreams, all because the group is made up of like-minded thinkers devoted to philosophy. If you’re interested in joining conversations like these along with fun activities, check out the Philosophy Club! The next meeting is at 8 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 25 in Anderson 140.
